MINNEAPOLIS Carlson Hospitality Worldwide is teaming up with Compaq and Microsoft to deliver its MACH-1 (Mobile Access to Carlson Hospitality Version 1), a portable, handheld information system. Based on the Compaq iPaq hardware platform and Microsoft Windows CE operating system for Pocket PC, Carlson is developing software applications that deliver critical business information to corporate and hotel executives.

MACH-1 is currently proceeding in the U.S. patent process and is unique to the industry because of three key components including its ability to subscribe to dynamic business information; set personalized triggers; and receive alerts. For example, a hotel manager could be notified when a VIP checks in or when a group cancels at the last minute. (4/10/01)
