MINNEAPOLIS— Citing the U.S. war with Iraq, as well as the sluggish economy, Carlson Hotels Worldwide today postponed its 2003 Annual Business Conference slated for June 22-26 in Oslo, Norway. “Due to the volatile economic climate and the war in Iraq challenging the state of the travel industry, a significant number of our hotel owners, management companies and hotel managers have expressed concern about being able to attend the annual business conference in Oslo,” said a spokeswoman. “Many of them are reluctant to be so far away from their hotel operations for an extended time.” She added the conference, themed IntoGreat, would be pushed back to late fourth quarter, but was unsure if the conference, which had anticipated approximately 500 attendees, would remain scheduled for Oslo.
