MINNEAPOLIS— Carlson Hospitality Worldwide has selected Guest-Tek as one of its two approved providers for high-speed Internet access for its 763 hotels worldwide. The other provider, which was also recently selected, is Golden Tree Communications, said a Carlson spokesperson. Carlson had selected VirtuaLinc in 1999 as its preferred provider, however, that vendor ceased hospitality industry installations after realizing its pricing model was not profitable. Guest-Tek, which was also recently selected by Hyatt Hotels as that company’s preferred provider, has already installed its product in several Carlson properties, including its Regent, Radisson and Country Inns & Suites brands. The Guest-Tek package includes plug-and-play technology, installation and a 24-hour Help Desk for guests. As a result of the agreement, Guest-Tek will be able to showcase its GlobalSuite technology at the Carlson Hospitality Worldwide Annual Business Conference, Feb. 18-22 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
