NEW YORK— HOTEL BUSINESS® has learned Carlos Lopes, executive vice president of Olympus Hospitality Group, and the architect of the Rockresorts re-positioning, which included six, upscale resorts in the U.S. and Caribbean, will soon be leaving that position to form a new real estate partnership. “We believe that market conditions will present us with an excellent opportunity to acquire premium hotel and resort assets for our newly formed venture,” said Lopes. “After more than 25 years in operating and successfully re-launching hotels, I would like to apply my knowledge of the industry and add value to the new venture by focusing on under performing assets”. The new venture is expected to be up and running within the next two months. —Shannon McMullen
