ROUND ROCK, TX— The fifteenth Candlewood Suites in the Lone Star state has opened here north of Austin. The 98-suite Round Rock Candlewood Suites, owned by Arizona-based Equus-Round Rock LLC and managed by Equus Capital Management, is the third Candlewood in the Austin area. Located about 20 miles from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the new property is less than two miles from Dell Computer Corp. headquarters and other businesses, including Sysco, Westinghouse Electric Co. and Abbot Laboratories. The hotel is near Dell Diamond baseball stadium, home of the Double-A Round Rock Express baseball team, and Georgetown Lake, a recreational, fishing and boating area. The hotel features 24 one-bedrooms suites and 74 studios. Each suite includes a complete kitchen, recliner, 25-inch television, large business desk, adjustable executive chair, and two phone lines, including data port, and 24/7 signature Candlewood Cupboard pantry. Mike Collins serves as general manager. Equus, headed by president/CEO Philip Lama and evp/COO Bradford Talbot, has another Candlewood Suites under construction in Plymouth, MN. The company also owns other hotels in Arizona, Minnesota, New Mexico and Texas. Kansas-based Candlewood Suites now has more than 100 properties open nationwide.
