NEW YORK HOTEL BUSINESS. has learned that a 214-unit Candlewood Suites made its formal New York area debut Monday, April 16 across the Hudson River in Jersey City, NJ.
At eight stories, the $23-million Candlewood Suites Jersey City-Exchange Place, is the tallest property to date for Wichita, KS-based Candlewood Hotel Co., which also franchises Cambridge Suites. The new property is company owned and operated.
The extended-stay property is located within Jersey City s financial district, with access to Manhattan via PATH trains.
A shuttle van service is available during the morning and evening rush hours to transport guests to PATH stations at Exchange Place [one stop to New York s World Trade Center]and Pavonia/Newport [one stop to midtown Manhattan].
The hotel is approximately 11 miles from Newark International Airport.
The property will be run by general manager Robert Bernado, and will feature the brand s signature Candlewood Cupboard, a self-serve honor system convenience store, and a 24-hour front desk.
Targeting long-term stay business travelers, the property also will offer daily rates for the 160 studios and 54 one-bedroom suites. Rates for studios will range from $159 to $219, depending on length of stay and season. One-bedroom suites will run about $30 higher.
