VICTORIA, B.C., CANADA— A new energy management system installed at The Hotel Grand Pacific is helping the property reduce costs, noted management. The new system was installed as part of a multi-million dollar re-construction last May that more than doubled the size of the hotel. The property jumped from 148 rooms to 304 rooms and suites. Thus, a new energy management system was a necessity, and it has paid off according to the property, which reports that the combination energy management and room-locking system developed for the hotel by Saflok and Inncom has enhanced guest security and saved the hotel money. The system interfaces with the hotels property management system, and as a guest checks into the hotel, the individual room settings are adjusted so that rooms are waiting at a comfortable level for the guest. The system also has security features that include real-time remote access information.
