TULSA, OK— Candlewood Hotel Co.’s Cambridge Suites will make its initial entry into southeast Tulsa this spring when an existing property is remodeled and re-opened under a license agreement with Nu-Gen Hotels LLC, a Los Angeles-based group headed by Kevin Lamb. To be located on the site of what was formerly a Residence Inn and then a GuestHouse International property, the Tulsa Cambridge Suites is projected to open in April with 135 suites, including 101 executive studio suites and 34 penthouses. Suites will reportedly be “larger than average” and will be equipped with a full array of appliances as well as in-room amenities. Some suites reportedly will also include fireplaces. Elsewhere on the property, the swimming pool, landscaping and roofing is in the process of being upgraded, and free laundry facilities, a fitness center and a complimentary hot breakfast will be added. Additionally, the Candlewood Cupboard, a signature self-service, honor-based convenience store, will be open to guests around the clock. Introductory rates for the Tulsa Cambridge Suites have been set at $65 per night by Nu-Gen, which is said to be seeking other extended-stay properties for acquisition and conversion to the Cambridge Suites brand. On the personnel front, Mike Bethel— previously general manager of Candlewood Suites in Oklahoma City— has been named general manager of the property, Lacey Grinter was tapped as the assistant general manager, and Betsy Angleton has been named director of sales. Further recruiting is in progress to fill 20 full- and part-time positions.
