BROOKLYN, NY— The four-year-old New York Marriott Brooklyn Hotel plans to expand by building a 23-story building that will give the hotel an extra 280 rooms, according to a report today on crainsny.com. The downtown brooklyn property inked a deal with New York City to buy an adjacent 8,000-square-foot parcel of land at 345 Adams Street where the new $53 million addition will go up. The property, which had an occupancy rate in 2000 of 90%, noted the expansion will allow it to accommodate growing demand for rooms by large conference groups. Currently, the project is still in the approvals process by various community boards. And then it can make its way through the land review process. All of this could take six to eight months to complete before the expansion could begin. SOURCE: crainsny.com
