WASHINGTON, D.C.— The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) has commissioned Falls Church, VA-based travel research firm D.K. Shifflet & Associates Ltd. (DKS&A) to explore Americans outlook on traveling in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The report, entitled USA Travel Recovery Monitor- A Blueprint for Rebuilding Travel, will be distributed bi-weekly to AH&LA members through March 2002 and will feature responses gleaned through some 600 hotel guests telephone surveys. Covered by the benchmark undertaking will be a series of topics, including: current travel behavior; hotel usage; transportation preference (e.g., airplane or automobile); safety concerns; and spending during travel. The survey will also state the different personality types and needs of travelers. In addition, it was noted that researchers are following up weekly with 150 travelers to consistently update the studys information.
