BH&R Moving In With Parent

NEW YORK HOTEL BUSINESS. has learned that March 3 will be moving day for more than 80 corporate and divisional staffers of Bass Hotels & Resorts in London, including Chairman/CEO Tom Oliver and Vice Chairman Craig Hunt.

Two groups of employees after some 15 years will vacate BH&R s current location at Devonshire House, Mayfair Place, London. One group will move about two miles into parent Bass PLC headquarters on North Audley St.

Oliver, Hunt, and several departments including communications, brand marketing, human resources, IT and strategy, representing more than 50 staffers will maintain separate operations there, according to spokeswoman Louise O Laughlin.

A second group, comprised of BH&R s Europe, Middle East and Africa division headed by managing director David Bland, will move to a new regional office in the Windsor section. Logistically, it just made sense to split [EMEA] off so it has its own empire, just the same as The Americas in Atlanta and Asia/Pacific in Singapore. It s easier for them to get on and do what they need to do as a region, said O Laughlin. (1/29/01) Stefani C. O Connor
