MADRID— The Spanish hotel chain Best Western España, a subsidiary of Best Western International, plans to double its room count in Spain by opening 23 hotels, totaling some 2,000 rooms, by 2006. The company, which presently has 27 hotels in the country, is looking to expand on the Costa del Sol, on the northern Costa Verde and into the cities of Seville and Zaragoza. Meanwhile, Best Western International plans to operate 20 hotels in Romania— twice the number it originally planned.
