ATLANTA— Benchmark Hospitality has assumed the management of the Georgian Terrace Hotel, a landmark property located here on historic Peachtree St. in the citys Midtown district. The 325-suite Georgian Terrace Hotel opened in 1911 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Through its history, the Georgian Terrace Hotel has hosted numerous dignitaries and celebrities including Presidents Calvin Coolidge and Warren G. Harding, Charles Lindbergh, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Tallulah Bankhead, Rudolph Valentino and Enrico Caruso. In addition, the hotel hosted the reception for the premier of “Gone With The Wind.” A French Renaissance-style building, the hotel features architectural details such as turreted corners, floor-to-ceiling Palladian-style windows, wide wrap-around columned terraces, crystal chandeliers, white marble columns and Italian tile floors. In 2001, the property completed a $10 million renovation program, which returned the hotel to its original early 20th century design. Benchmark Hospitality, here, operates luxury resorts, hotels and conference centers throughout the United States, in Canada and Japan.
