MILWAUKEE, WISC.—Baymont Inns & Suites is ready to break ground on its first property in California. The middle-market brand is preparing a 105-room four-story hotel near Ontario Airport right next to Ontario Mills Mall. The effort will be part of joint venture agreement with California developer Lew Wolff. This new property is part of Baymont’s Strategic Market Partnership Development (SMPD) program. Under this, the company enters into master development agreements with developers for the sole purpose of building new Baymont hotels in major metro areas. This new property is just the first of five Baymonts that will part of the company’s SMPD push in California, according to the company. The chain is also looking at sites in San Diego, Orange County, Anaheim, LAX Airport and Pasadena/Arcadia
