NEW YORK—From ancient Rome to 20th century Art Deco, many influences can affect what appears in the guest bathroom, often in surprising ways.
Recently, Christopher Grubb, president/founder of Beverly Hills, CA-based Arch-Interiors Design Group, traveled to Italy and returned so inspired by the cities of Rome and Milan that he translated his enthusiasm into designs for bathroom vanities. The new pieces, Milano and Roma, have been added to The CG Collection.
Grubb indicated that the pieces create market excitement for hoteliers due to “the simplicity of the design. Both models are appropriate for an ultra-modern bathroom or a bathroom with an abundance of design details that needs one strong, simple piece that lets the other design elements breathe,” he said. He noted both pieces offer a large amount of storage space. “The drawer in Milano is in response to the needs in smaller urban properties for additional storage for guests who are tired of having no space on the counters for toiletries. It also aids in keeping the bathroom uncluttered, letting the simplicity of the design shine through.”
The vanities have soft-close doors and drawers, brushed-metal pulls and a finish that eamlessly continues throughout the cabinet interior.
Overall, The C.G. Collection has had “a great response” from the hospitality industry, said Grubb, and he expects Milano and Roma would be “an ideal fit” for urban locales and boutique hotels, as well as midscale hotels looking to shed traditional bathroom furniture styles.
At ThermaSol, the Simi Valley, CA, company has done a take on several styles and influences for new steam shower controls and aromatherapy steamheads, creating three series: Regency (neo-classical style); Deco (early 1900s linear symmetry); and Icon (rounded corners, minimal design inspired by tech legends).
ThermaSol’s President, Jari Ristola, stressed to HOTEL BUSINESS that while the new products create interest for hoteliers, “Our controls and aromatherapy steamheads are not stand-alone products; they are part of a complete in-room steam system, which includes a converted shower space, generator, control panel, steamhead and light-and-music system. In-room steam shower systems are extremely popular and the aromatherapy function can take a guest’s stay to a whole new level. On a practical level, the new design’s functionality is exceptional. They are also classy and adaptable to a variety of decorating schemes.”
Ristola noted ThermaSol sees demand “across the board” from hotels and B&Bs to luxury properties. “They’re all looking for ways to offer guests something different from mainstream hotels,” he said, adding, “We have thousands of units installed locally and abroad. We’re one of the only companies that offers one generator that can provide steam for multiple rooms. Each room gets its own steamhead and control panel. This capability saves hoteliers time and money on larger, multi-room installations.”
