Bass To Build 2 Hotels In Dominican Republic

MIAMI Bass Hotels & Resorts and Coral Hotels & Resorts, a management company that operates four resorts in the Dominican Republic, plan to open of two new Crowne Plaza hotels in that country one in the capital city of Santo Domingo and a second in Santiago.

These new construction projects are slated for completion by mid-2003. The $14 million, 200-room Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santiago will break ground this spring and will be located in the citys commercial district. The $16 million, 208-room Crowne Plaza in Santo Domingo will be a 22-story tower that will anchor a mixed-use complex, which includes the hotel, a retail shopping mall, office space, and condominiums.

Coral Hotels & Resorts will operate both hotels. (4/17/01)
