Bass Shareholders Approve Name Change

ATLANTA— Bass shareholders have approved the company’s name change to Six Continents. The change, which will come into effect on July 30, was approved by shareholders at a general meeting on July 20. The new name received overwhelming support with less than 1% of shareholders against the change. As previously reported by HOTEL BUSINESS®, rights to the Bass name and its trademark red triangle were sold to Interbrew in August last year along with the Bass Brewers business. A condition of the sale was that Bass must cease using the name by August 2002.
