ATLANTA Bass Hotels & Resorts reported a strong close for its 99/00 fiscal year with profits for the hotel group significantly up 18.2% overall, and 23.3% in the Americas region. The company observes an Oct. 1-Sept. 30 fiscal year. Bass Hotels & Resorts Inter-Continental brand was strengthened this fiscal year by the acquisition of the historic, 189-room Stephen F. Austin hotel in Austin, TX, and the opening of the 150-room Inter-Continental Miami Airport West. The brands U.S. portfolio now includes 11 properties in key gateway cities across the nation. Staybridge Suites by Holiday Inn, the companys extended-stay brand, is growing rapidly in its second year of operation, with 18 hotels opened in the U.S. this fiscal year. As of Sept. 30 there were 20 Staybridge Suites hotels open, with an additional 53 in the pipeline. Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts achieved a 5.0% increase in RevPAR, reaching $52.30 for the twelve months ending September 30, 2000, and ADR was up 4.9% to $79.82. Crowne Plaza RevPAR improved with an 8.8% increase to $79.47, and ADR reached $110.91, representing an increase of 4.1%. (12/7/00)
