INTERNATIONAL REPORT—It’s official. Baha Mar is now open. Three years after declaring bankruptcy and being brought back from the brink, the finishing touches were put on the $4 billion dollar behemoth project. Here’s a closer look at this and other resort projects broad:
Baha Mar Marks Full Completion of Resort
In the Bahamas, Baha Mar has marked the completion of the phased opening and development process. In its inaugural year, Baha Mar has delivered on the timely arrivals of the three global hotel brands on property—Grand Hyatt, SLS and Rosewood Baha Mar—which debuts this month.
Across the three global hotel brands, Baha Mar now offers 2,300 rooms, suites and villas, as well as the largest casino in the Caribbean; flagship ESPA spa; upscale dining with more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges; marine life experiences at The Beach Sanctuary; Bahamian art and culture at The Current; luxury and locally inspired shopping destinations; the Performing Arts and Convention Center; tennis and golf at the Peter Burwash International Baha Mar Racquet Club and the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed Signature Royal Blue golf course.
Renovation Underway for St. Regis in Puerto Rico
The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort is slated to open on Oct. 29, following an extensive $60-million renovation at Bahia Beach in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
The renovation is inclusive of every guestroom and suite, the Plantation House, the heart of the resort which includes The St. Regis Bar and the property’s signature restaurant, seaside pool and esplanade, spa, and the oceanfront golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Additionally, there will be an $85 million beachfront, ultra-luxury residential development, Ocean Dr., as well as The Atlantic Dr. Estates and plans for a resort expansion.
Rancho Pescadero Readies for Mindful Expansion
In Todos Santos, Mexico, Rancho Pescadero will temporarily close its doors July 1 to embark on property wide enhancements. Maintaining its charm and continuing a focus on sustainable design, the resort will re-open with 95 guestrooms and suites in December 2019 timed for its 10-year anniversary.
The design will continue to embrace the authentic beauty of Baja and connect guests to its 30 acres of beach and farmland. Upon completion, Rancho Pescadero will debut an oceanfront restaurant and lagoon pool, a 20,000 sq. ft. spa and apothecary, plus 12 oceanfront villas with private plunge pools.
