BETHESDA, MD—The Autograph Collection, Marriott International’s portfolio of upscale, independent hotels, will debut three new hotels, including its first hotels in California, this spring.
With the new additions, the collection will grow to include nearly 45 independent hotels, with plans to reach its 50-hotel milestone by year end. The news follows the announcement last week of Autograph Collection’s debut in Germany this summer with the opening of the historic Hotel am Steinplatz following an extensive renovation.
The three hotels include the following: Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa in Lake Arrowhead, CA; the Hotel Adagio in San Francisco; and the Hotel Blackhawk located in Davenport, IA.
Following a $26-million renovation, Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa reopened in April as part of the Autograph Collection. It was previously known as the historic Arlington Lodge, which opened in 1923, overlooking the scenic Lake Arrowhead. It features 162 guestrooms and 11 suites, as well as the Spa of the Pines. The resort also offers a full-service salon, a modern fitness studio and BIN189, which offers a menu of rustic, robust flavors created from natural ingredients. Other f&b offerings include Mountain Aroma’s, a coffee bar just off the lobby.
Originally built in 1929, the 171-room Hotel Adagio is a landmark structure located in the heart of San Francisco’s Union Square district. The iconic luxury hotel features Spanish colonial revival architecture mixed with contemporary design. According to the company, the vision behind the hotel’s recent multimillion-dollar renovation includes textured backdrops comprised of warm coffee tones and punctuated with vibrant pops of color—fresh green and deep grape in the hotel’s guest rooms, and rich orange and cranberry in the public spaces. Distinctive furniture pieces, extensive woodwork and custom marble mosaics complete the design. Floor sixteen—the Penthouse level—includes two suites, three rooms, 1,200 sq. ft. of meeting space and an outdoor terrace.
Having reopened in 2010 after a multimillion-dollar renovation, The Hotel Blackhawk (formerly The Blackhawk Hotel) offers 130 renovated guestrooms and suites. According to the company, the design includes tasteful decorations and stylish, comfortable furniture and works created by local artists and designer touches throughout. Hotel amenities include a heated indoor pool and whirlpool hot tub that overlooks Davenport and the Mississippi River, The Black Hawk Fitness Center, Spa Luce and a high-tech Business Center. In addition, the hotel offers a retro-chic bowling alley, Blackhawk Bowl & Martini Lounge.
