GEORGETOWN, GUYANA—The Ascend Hotel Collection from Choice Hotels International, Inc. has added the 25-room Opus Hotel in Georgetown, Guyana, on the coast of South America. The Opus is the 12th hotel in Choice’s Caribbean portfolio.
The hotel features 23 standard guestrooms and two executive rooms, complete with hardwood floors and jetted tubs. Amenities include a restaurant and bar, small meeting room facilities, complimentary parking and Wi-Fi.
“The collection strives to heighten the guest experience by bringing the local colors and character into the hotel. With its tropical climate and quaint Dutch and Victorian influenced architecture, the capital city of Georgetown is an exceptional destination with much to offer visitors and eco tourists,” said Neil Cantor, head of Ascend Hotel Collection for Choice Hotels International. “The Opus Hotel delivers on the Ascend Collection’s promise to offer a distinct and memorable experience while providing exceptional guest services.”
“I am confident that this relationship with Choice’s Ascend Hotel Collection is not only the right fit for the Opus Hotel, but will also help elevate Guyana’s image in the global travel marketplace,” said Wilfred Brandford, owner of the Opus Hotel.
The hotel is situated in Stabroek, located in central Georgetown, near several regional and international development organizations. The hotel offers access to the area’s art and craft museums, and numerous cultural heritage sites, including the Monument of Queen Victoria and St. George’s Cathedral. The hotel also provides access to the University of Guyana, the Georgetown Seawall and attractions such as Promenade Gardens, Marine Turtle Monument, Walter Roth Museum and Brickdam Cathedral.
