WASHINGTON, D.C.— Turnout for ARDAs International Resort Development Convention & Exposition held mid-April in Las Vegas exceeded expectations in terms of attendance at the shows key events and convention overall, said show organizers. The convention saw an impressive 3,446 attendees this year, which was only down 2% from 2001. ARDA noted that in an economically challenging year, seeing almost identical 2001 and 2002 attendance numbers is “a testimony to the events significance.” According to ARDA, two key events in particular saw record-breaking attendance: the general session, which drew 1,600 attendees, and the 2002 Crystal Ball luncheon, which garnered 700 attendees. ARDA said the high attendance may be the result of a renewed industry emphasis on education and networking.
