NEW YORK—Andaz 5th Avenue, a boutique hotel in midtown Manhattan, has opened The Courtyard, an outdoor event space, along with a new catering menu for the summer season.
The Courtyard is an al fresco extension of the hotel’s meetings, events and entertaining space, Apartment 2E. The property fits 75 guests for a cocktail party or reception, or can host a seated breakfast, lunch or tasting event for smaller numbers.
The concept behind Apartment 2E is akin to hosting an event in the privacy of one’s home with its residential-style layout comprised of versatile function space. The 6,400-sq.-ft. space occupies the entire second floor of the hotel and is made up of several studios, all of which echo pre-war Manhattan apartments, along with an open chef’s kitchen, according to the company. The studios can be used individually to host from 12 to 150 guests, or the space can be collapsed into one large loft-like room to accommodate up to 400 guests. All of the studios in Apartment 2E can now be combined with The Courtyard for a unique indoor-outdoor experience.
“We are excited to reintroduce the revitalized outdoor space to offer our clients and guests the rare ability to celebrate outdoors in Manhattan,” said GM Cornelia Samara. “The Courtyard is a perfect space for any summer event or celebration.”
Along with the revamped outdoor space, the hotel is also introducing a new menu for Apartment 2E. Building on the philosophy of the other eateries on the property including the shop and the bar downstairs, events at The Courtyard and Apartment 2E serve up foods that highlight local produce at the height of the season, as well as local artisanal food purveyors.
