SILVER SPRING, MD— Choice Hotels International— which began offering airline-mileage awards to its guests just some six weeks ago— has now extended the option and/or guarantee of such awards to all locations throughout its multi-brand system with the launch of its Easy Choice frequent-guest program. Encompassing Econo Lodges and Rodeway Inns, the Easy Choice program is built around a stamp card distributed to guests checking-in at the economy-level properties, with one stamp earned for each night’s stay at the participating hotel. As set up, six stamps on the card can be redeemed for either a $25 room rebate or 750 airline miles, while 10 stamps translate into a $50 room savings or 1,500 airline miles. However, through Dec.31, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn guests will receive a bonus of 150 airline miles per stay in addition to one stamp for each night of their stay. Following the Dec. 31 cut-off date and running through Aug. 31, 2002, guests will be offered their choice of either the stamps-for-room-rebates or the airline-mileage award. Stamp cards can be redeemed through Dec. 31, 2002. The Easy Choice promotion applies to all rates (except those discounted more than 30% off the rack rate) and— like the more widespread and longer-standing Choice Privileges offering— is tied into American Airlines’ AAdvantage and USAir’s Dividend Miles programs. Under rules governing Choice Privileges (which covers all Comfort, Quality, Clarion and Sleep Inn properties), guests must be pre-enrolled as a member of the frequency program in order to earn a choice of bonus points redeemable for future lodging or 250 airline miles per stay. Guests at Mainstay Suites locations can only opt for the 250 airline-miles award.
