NEW YORK— The Algonquin Hotel has named Anthony Mechiorri to the position of general manager and Michael Lyman as director of sales and marketing. Melchiorri, a 14-year hospitality veteran, was general manager of The Lucerne Hotel in New York City prior to joining The Algonquin. He has also served as director of operations for Ecce Panis Inc. and has held various senior roles at New York’s Millennium Broadway and Plaza hotels. A 15-year hospitality veteran, Lyman most recently served as director of sales and marketing for the Metropolitan Hotel prior to his appointment at the Algonquin. He has also held sales positions with Berlitz International, Potomac Hotel Group and Corporate Suites of Washington. It is slated to reopen later this month. Upon completion of the renovation in late July, the hotel’s guestrooms will feature flat-screen cable televisions, dual-line speakerphones with data ports, high-speed Internet access and voice mail, iron and ironing board, complimentary fruit bowl and umbrellas, and more. Bathrooms come equipped with a hair dryer, robes and Dorothy Prentice Aromatherapy amenities.
