NATIONAL REPORT— Stats from the Airports Council International show that September traffic was 15% down across the globe, with airports in North America seeing 32% less passengers than last September. Tokyos Haneda was the busiest airport in the world in September, recording an increase of 3.5% on the year to handle 5.18 million passengers. Heathrow dropped 13.1% to 5.1 million but held on to second spot. Frankfurt’s drop was less at 7.2% reducing passenger numbers to 4.4 million. Atlantas Hartsfield, which usually has a firm grip on the top slot, dropped to fourth. Madrid scraped into the top 10 but bucked the European trend by recording a year-on-year increase of 1.5% to reach 3.1 million. Geneva-based ACI looked at stats from over 700 airports across the globe.
