NEW YORK- At American Hotel & Motel Associations (AH&MA) Fireside Chat, held at the Waldorf=Astoria here, President/CEO William Fisher, Ph.D said that on Saturday, November 11, 2000, a proposal will be brought for approval to change the organizations name to the American Hotel & Lodging Association.
“We believe that the word lodging is encompassing and embracing of our industry as we move into the 21st century,” Fisher said. He added that the association leadership considered the word “motel” to be “outdated nomenclature.” (11/11/00) – Jay Nussbaum
