WASHINGTON—The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) commended the House Judiciary Committee on the passage of The Innovation Act (H.R. 3309), which passed with a bipartisan vote of 33-5.
“With committee passage of this bill, the House of Representatives moves one step closer toward meaningful patent reform and protection from the predatory, frivolous lawsuits filed by patent trolls, often against small hotels that don’t have the resources to wage expensive legal battles,” stated Katherine Lugar, AH&LA president/CEO. “We thank Chairman Goodlatte for his thoughtful leadership in guiding his bill through the committee process. The lodging industry now looks forward to working with the full House of Representatives in crafting a final bill that puts an end to a practice that costs the economy $80 billion each year.”
