WASHINGTON, DC— The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) has released a new edition of the Federal Wage & Hour Standards book specifically compiled for the hotel/lodging and restaurant industries. This new edition is reportedly designed to assist hotel owners, directors, and managers in meeting their obligations regarding federal wage and hour laws. It was offered that hospitality human resource professionals will similarly appreciate the comprehensive nature of the new book, which deals with the application of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to employees of hotels, motels, and restaurants. Topics covered include: FLSA minimum-wage and overtime rates; tips; work-week and payment of wages; uniforms; overtime; child labor; equal pay; executive, administrative, and professional employees and outside salespersons; and the federal wage-garnishment law.
