WASHINGTON DC The American Hotel Foundation (AHF) has received a collection of vintage luggage tags which it will auction off to the highest bidder at the American Hotel & Motel Association (AH&MA) annual conference in Chicago on April 5, 2001. The proceeds of the auction will be used by the AHF for scholarships for hospitality industry students, research efforts and support of hospitality industry technology initiatives.

The luggage tag collection, donated by Chicago hotel company consultant Bob Stein, comprises more than 1,000 tags dating from the 1920-40s, appraised at a value of more than $10,000. Both domestic and foreign properties are represented in the collection, which has been preserved in album format. (1/8/01)
