TUCSON, AZ— Industry veteran John Adams has been named general manager of the new Starr Pass Marriott Resort & Spa, which will open here in the Tucson Mountains Dec. 15. He will oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the 575-room resort and 20,000-square-foot spa. Previously, Adams served as GM of the 1,192-room Chicago Marriott Downtown and also assumed additional responsibility for the 338-room Chicago Courtyard Downtown and the 250-room Chicago Residence Inn Downtown. He joined Marriott in 1983 as a front-desk manager trainee at the Miami Airport Marriott and worked his way up the ranks through various Marriott properties, including the Dulles Airport Marriott, Crystal City Marriott, Crystal Gateway Marriott outside of Washington, D.C., Marriott Orlando World Center Resort & Golf Club, Ft. Lauderdale Marina Marriott, and Marriott’s Harbor Beach Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, before rejoining the Miami Airport Marriott as general manager in 1996. Adams returned to Ft. Lauderdale in 1999 to serve as general manager of the Ft. Lauderdale Marina Marriott.
