NEW YORK—The American Cancer Society is reportedly attempting to raise $50 million to construct a flagship Hope Lodge in midtown Manhattan that would occupy 11 floors of a mixed-use development currently under construction. According to reports, the lodge will offer 60 units of free temporary accommodations for cancer patients and their families who travel to the city for treatment. The facility would be able to lodge a patient and caregiver. The lodge, which would be one of 22 Hope Lodges already operating in the United States, also would offer social services and support groups. The Manhattan property, which will be part of a 60-story high-rise at 125 West 31st St., would also feature kitchen facilities, a gym and office space for the ACS.
