PAUANUI, NEW ZEALAND— Accor plans to launch its Mercure brand in New Zealand, when it takes over management of the renowned Puka Park Resort in Pauanui, on the Coromandel Coast, in October. The hotel will be rebranded and reopened in December, 2001 as the Mercure Grand Puka Park Resort. Set amongst 25 acres of New Zealands bushland near Pauanui, the Puka Park hotel offers various accommodations from elegant tree hut chalets to the Royal Puka Suite, which is two stories and comprises three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The hotel also offers a Wellness Spa, fine-dining restaurant, and conference facilities for up to 100 people. The Mercure brand is Accors largest, with approximately 750 hotels in 44 countries. Mercure is also the largest international hotel brand in Australia, with over 40 properties.
