INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Hotel properties are opening or in the process of opening in Portugal, Japan, China and Austria. Here’s a look at four of them:
Iberostar Lisboa
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has strengthened its expansion into the international urban hotel sector this month by opening its first hotel in Portugal.
The 166-room hotel, designed by the Capinha Lopes studio, has a modern, contemporary and sophisticated architecture. Situated in Baixa, one of Lisbon’s business and shopping hubs, the property stands behind Praça do Marquês de Pombal, one of the capital’s exclusive areas.
Amenities include an onsite restaurant, lobby bar, pool bar, spa and wellness center and meeting spaces.
Regent Chongqing
Regent Hotels and Resorts is set to open the Regent Chongqing on Nov. 16 in Chongqing Shi, China. The hotel, which is managed by Regent Hotels & Resorts and owned by Casin Group, is set to be the city’s first urban resort.
Situated in the financial district of Jiangbeizui, between the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, the hotel is a short distance to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
There are 202 guestrooms complete with spacious five-fixture bathrooms and expansive river views. Throughout the hotel, art by notable artists are on display.
F&B options include three restaurants and two bars, each with a unique concept, cuisine and ambience.
Halekulani Okinawa
Global real estate company Mitsui Fudosan Co. Ltd. has entered into a partnership with with Halekulani Corporation to open Halekulani Okinawa at the site of the Okinawa Inbu Beach Hotel Project (tentative name) in Onna Village, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture in Japan, slated for the summer of 2019.
Under the Group’s “Innovation 2017 Stage II” medium-term business plan, Mitsui Fudosan has positioned the hotel and resort business as one of its new growth areas.
Along with taking proactive steps to develop the proprietary brand, Mitsui Garden Hotels in Japan, Mitsui Fudosan has been working to develop luxury hotel properties and attract such properties to its multi-use developments in central Tokyo, including such luxury hotel properties as Mandarin Oriental Tokyo and The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo.
Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is set to add another destination to its portfolio. Set in the Austrian Alps, Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps is scheduled to open in 2020.
With over 104 miles of ski runs, the property will offer ski-in, ski-out access and in summer there are 75 miles of mountain bike paths and 311 miles of hiking trails to explore.
There will be 80 guest accommodations, include 50 residences, plus a small village of chalets available for private sale. It is being developed by Kitzbüheler Alps Projekt GmbH, with architects for the hotel/residences and chalets IAW – International Architecture Workshop, Turin, Düsseldorf, Moscow and hotel interior design consultants Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and Six Senses Spa Kitzbühel Alps by Six Senses Creative.
