NEW YORK—Tim and Kit Kemp, owners of Firmdale Hotels, have opened their second New York hotel, The Whitby.

Located at 18 West 56 St., The Whitby Hotel features contemporary art and design and offers a restaurant, bar, conservatory, library, several private-event spaces and a cinema. Each guestroom has been individually styled by Kit Kemp using a mix of color, pattern, texture and art.

The new 97,000-sq.-ft. building’s architecture was designed by Stonehill & Taylor. The firm also is the architect of Firmdale’s Crosby Street Hotel in Manhattan.
