NEW YORK— Don’t expect Six Continents Plc to be a bidder for Raffles Holdings, which has reportedly been put up for sale by its largest stockholder. Speaking to the New York press this morning at an event launching a $25 million advertising campaign for 6C’s InterContinental brand, Richard North, group finance director, 6C Plc, adamantly denied his company was interested in buying the Raffles hotel portfolio, which also includes the Swissotels label. “We are not looking to acquire a brand,” said North. “With InterContinental we have the best brand in the world, and we are not interested in paying for the Raffles brand,” he said. Raffles, which owns the famed Singapore Raffles hotel and 37 other hotels, is said to be valued at $875 million.
